About Learning Bridge Dyslexia

Understanding Dyslexia, Supporting Learning

I am Tracey Bryant, founder of Learning Bridge Dyslexia. I have been a primary school teacher for over 30 years and been a class teacher, SENCO and Deputy Head during that time.

When the 'Rose Dyslexia Review' was published in 2009, one of the recommendations was for every child to have access to a specialist dyslexia teacher and as a result, I gained a Level 5 qualification in Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties. For the past 10 years, I have been working as a specialist advisory teacher for local authorities, working with schools to provide the tailored support individual pupils require to make progress with their literacy skills. I now hold a Level 7 qualification which enables me to carry out further assessments. I ensure that my knowledge and advice is up to date by regularly attending relevant training sessions.

I also hold a Level 5 qualification in Dyscalculia and Maths Difficulties and can provide assessment and written reports to support any maths issues your child may have. I am currently working my way towards the Level 7 qualification. Please ask for more details if you would like maths support for your child.

I am based in Saffron Walden and will travel up to approximately 30-minute drive.

I am currently a member of PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties) and hold Professional Civil Liability insurance.

Literacy/Numeracy Review

This is a shorter assessment focusing on areas of concern in literacy or numeracy to investigate current levels of attainment and learning strengths and needs in these areas. It will not be possible for a diagnosis of dyslexia to be made, as the full range of assessments needed will not be carried out.

The assessment session may last about 1 – 1 ½ hours and would involve looking in detail at areas such as:

Reading skills- word reading, comprehension,

Writing skills- spelling, handwriting and written composition

or

Maths skills

This Literacy or Numeracy Review is appropriate for younger children when parents do not yet wish to undertake a full diagnostic assessment, or for parents who have concerns about aspects of their child’s literacy or numeracy skills and would like to know what they can do to help at home.

The Literacy/Numeracy Review would provide recommendations for home and school, including resources and assistive technology that may help to move learning forward.
